sarah's baby shower

Here are some pics from the baby shower- it was a totally cute success!

My sister in law, Amy, was in charge of the fabulous decorations:

As I mentioned in my previous post, I put together a dessert table with the help of my fabulous Aunt Lara! Here are some pics of the finished product:

Fruit Cups:

Marshmellow Cream Cheese Fruit Dip in Squeezy bottle:

Mini Spice Cupcakes:

Lemon Squares:

Rice Crispy Pops with ribbon flags:

Popcorn Cones:

Brownie Bites:

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Mini Push Pops:

We played a few games too. When everyone came in they got a clothes pin for the "Don't Say Baby" game and a little paper diaper. Later in the shower everyone opened their diapers and whoever had the poopy one won a prize.

Amy made some Baby Shower Gift Bingo cards. I loved this idea- it gives the guests something fun to do while the mommy-to-be is opening presents.

And my mother in law put together a memory game. She got all kinds of baby stuff on a tray and everyone had write down everything they could remember.

Could you remember it all?

And the final little game thing we did was a drawing for anyone who brought some diapers or wipes. As you can see, they are pretty well stocked- between our diaper cake and what the guest brought they will be set on diapers- at least for the first week or two! =p

There was a pretty great turn out, as you can see above and she got tons of great gifts. This post would be forever long if I posted pictures of them all, so I only posted the ones from people I knew.

Virginia got them a cradle and the blankets inside were made by Sarah's mom Cindy.

My mom, who couldn't make it to the shower, but sent a gift, got little Marley a Christmas sweater and hat.

And Grandma Smith sent a lovely basket full of baby goodies!

Sarah's due date was the 6th of October, but they went to the hospital this morning. I figured I should blog about the shower before the baby shows up! I should have a new baby niece very soon!

I stole these pics off Amy's blog- she did a great job on these! Check out her blog to see more.

Congrats Marvin & Sarah! Can't wait to meet your bundle of joy!

prepping for the baby shower

Naturally when we found out that my sister-in-law, Sarah, was pregnant- a bunch of the ladies in the family wanted to throw her a baby shower. So we all sat down one day and had a brain storming session on what we wanted to do. With Sarah's help, we decided on a pink, yellow, and orange color scheme and a few games. When it came time to talk about food- I remembered the super cute dessert tables that my aunt puts together on the side- she call's her little business "Sweet Insanity." I showed everyone pics on facebook:

Of course, everyone thought the idea was super cute- so I volunteered to take charge in the food department. I started texting my aunt right away and a few days later we sat down and started planning. We had so many cute ideas, we couldn't even fit all of them into our final table plan.

We finally decided to do a "Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice" theme on a round table with a diaper cake center piece, mini spice cupcakes and fruit with fruit dip (per the mommy-to-be's request), cupcake push-pops, popcorn cones, brownies, cookies, lemon squares, and rice crispy treats!

Even though the shower was like a month away at this point, I started working on things right away. I knew that with as busy as my schedule was, the shower was going to sneak up on me.

One of the first thing I worked on was fruit cups!

I got some colorful tulle and some cheap little plastic wine glasses from the dollar store and tied tutus around the stems!

They were pretty time consuming, but they were too cute! I couldn't not do them! I think they turned out adorable!

I also worked on putting together the popcorn cones. We didn't have a stapler when I made these, so I had to glue them all- it took a while but it was worth it.

Thank goodness for my new cricut that if nothing else, does a great job at cutting out circles! And my mini-xyron that turned those circles into stickers for me, so I didn't use up all my glue sticks!

The brownie bites got packages in little treat baggies with pink and yellow ribbon tying them off and a homemade sticker on the back. I had orange ribbon too- but naturally, I couldn't find it when I needed it!

I made little ribbon flag for the rice crispy pops that I made. Thanks Aunt Lara for showing me the nifty trick to those! I was doing it the hard way and she showed me a much easier way that looked WAY nicer.

The next thing I can't take credit for- this was all Lara and the pictures aren't all that great- but it was the most awesome thing on the table in my opinion. Mini Cupcake push-pops!

These are lime flavored tester's that she made. We stuck a sticker on the front and they looked (and tasted) fabulous!

And last but not least in my shower prep is the diaper cake! I wish I could have gotten a picture of all the diapers laying around my living room while I was working on it.

My sister, Jessica helped me tie the whole thing together. It turned out huge! I used probably about 400 diapers and it had a diaper genie hidden in the middle.
